Name of Product:

Eye Shadows (Single)

Rating:

Annabelle has some very good quality products.  I am very impress with this line, considering it as a drug store brand, it continue to surprise me with its outstanding products.  Annabelle’s eye shadows comes in singles packaged in a similar packing of M.A.C.’s eye shadows.  The pigmentation in these eye shadows are good, they stay on quiet good and I love the color selection.   The color selection of course is not comparable to M.A.C. and Cargo, but it does have some good bright colors, matte neutral colors and neutral colors with very fine shimmering powders in it.  I love these little pots of eye shadows and I will keep collecting them in every shade.

Name of Product:

Sweet Sugared Powder for Face & Body

Rating:

This is a loose luminous powder with strawberry scent and a sweet taste.  It can be used on both the face and on the body, or it can be sprinkled on top of the lip-gloss for added shine and shimmer.  First of all, this stuff is messy when trying to apply to the eyes.  If you are not careful it can fall into your eyes and on your cheeks.  Secondly, there is not a whole lot of pigment in this powder, it takes more than a few layers before you can see some color; it delivers more pearly shine and shimmer than colors.   Thirdly, this stuff does not stay on, it does not take long before it smudges and spread all over your face, even if you only applied it to the eye area.  I believe this product would work better as a body / face shimmer powder than an eye shadow.  Two flowers deducted for the messiness and the weak pigmentation.

Cargo

Name of Product:

Eye Shadows (Single)

Rating:

Cargo is a line designed by professional makeup artist for professional makeup artist that are also available to the public.  It came from Toronto, spreading to the West like a gust of wind.  It has a wide selection of colors in eye shadow, lip glosses, lipstick, lip liner, eye liner, blushes, loose powder, press powder, foundations, concealers and professional makeup brushes.  You have to see it to believe the beautiful colors Cargo has.  I particularly love the blue to green range of eye shadows.   The wear of these eye shadows are good, they have good pigmentation plus they come in both matte and shimmery finish.  I also like the packaging, it has a bigger circumference than the M.A.C. eye shadows (which yields a bigger working service for your brushes) and they come in cute silver color tins.  I am awarding 5 flowers in a pot for these eye shadows.

CLARINS Paris

Name of Product:

Color Quartet for Eyes

Rating:

These soft pearly-pastel shades deliver a shimmery, iridescent metallic finish.  It has a silky and lightweight texture that glides on smoothly.    These shades can be blended with some of CLARINS darker color eye shadow to deliver a more intense look.  This shadow has good pigmentation, I have tried many pastel / light iridescent eye shadows in other brands, but the pigments does not stay on well and they can be easily rubbed off during the day. Also, some pastel colors can look ashy on medium tone Asian skin or African Americans’ dark skin, but I find that these four colors worked well with both skin tones, and they did not appear ashy on the model nor wash her out with the light tones. I am granting this color quartet 4 hours.  Play away with these Spring / Summer colors!

Deep Shimmer Intense Eye Color

Rating:

These eye shadows are lightweight, easy to apply and have good pigmentations.  They are long wearing and will not rub off.  It comes in a range of vibrant colors and it contains light reflecting particles that filters out flaws in any lighting. They can be use wet or dry; I find that with the deep shimmer intense singles they change color when used wet.  I am looking forward to more new colors because the color range is not as wide as other leading big house cosmetic brands.

I like the Clinique eye shadows.  They have nice vibrant or soft colors that go with any occasion.  The colors have good pigmentation that lasts a good 4 – 6 hours without creasing.  They glide on smoothly and effortlessly with a natural hair eye shadow brush.  These quads are $25.00 US each.

Estée Lauder has beautiful lipsticks and eye shadows.  Their eye shadows have good pigmentations and they glide on smoothly.  The Spring collections of Estée Lauder’s eye shadow are especially eye catching; they all came in beautiful packaging and brilliant colors.  The package comes in either ice cubes like or in a clear palette.  The tones matches beautifully for a soft natural finish.  Keep in mind that they can be used wet (for more intense effect) or dry (for a softer look).  I did not experience any creasing or fading with these eye shadow.

Pure Color Cool
Eye Mousse

Rating:

I have one word for this eye shadow – coooooool!!  Not only is the design spectacular, but it also has a refreshing texture.  You do not get a whole lot of product for its price, but trust me a pot will last you at least 3 months because a little goes a long way.   This cream eye shadow goes on beautifully with either a sponge tip applicator or simply with your finger.  Not only does it wears all day but it can also act as a eye shadow base.   Here is a break down of this product:

Texture: It has a sponge like texture with intense shimmery color. Goes on with a cool feeling and dries to a powdery finish in seconds.

Pigmentation: Good pigmentation.  It yields a high shine and frosty finish.

Wear-ability: If you have dry eyelids, this product should last you all day with no creasing.  For people with oily lids, I suggest you powder your eyelids first or use an eye shadow primer before applying this product.

Application: The easiest way is to use your fingertips to apply.  Don’t dig up too much product at first, just slide your fingers over the product gently and smooth it across your eyelids.  Practice on the back of your hand first if this is your first time using creamy eye shadows.  Or you can use a small round synthetic hairbrush to smooth on or tap (for a more intense look) on the product; this gives more control over the area of application.

Caution: KEEP THE LID CLOSE TIGHTLY!  This product will dry out if you do not keep the lid close tightly.

Five flashy flowers for this smart & beautiful product!!!

Name of Product:

Mini-Satellite

Rating:

These mini satellite disks are fun to have.  They contain intense colors in a beautiful combination.   Here’s a break down of this product:

Pigmentation: Good pigmentation.  It yields a subtle shine and long lasting finish.  To increase the color intensity use it with a wet brush.

Wear-ability: On an average workday of lifting, stocking, running around and doing makeovers, this product stays on my oily eyelids for up to 7 good hours.  Of course by the end of my 9 hours shift the eye shadow faded a bit but I still think the wear-ability is above average.

Fragrance: None detected

Hint: use a small tip brush and be careful not to cross your brush over to the color next to it because it is easy to smudge one color onto another in the small palette.

In sum, I give these mini-satellites four beautiful flowers.  I just love their vibrant colors.

Liquid Transformer

Rating:

I like the idea of this liquid transformer. What it is it’s a product that transform dry eye shadows into intense wet colors that will last all day. The product description of this product claims that this liquid transformer will transform any eye shadow into a liquid liner simply by adding a drop of this stuff to your eyeliner brush and use it with your favorite eye shadow.  The texture of this product is like liquid, only a tad bit thicker.  The SA told me this liquid transformer will make any eye shadow wear longer and even water proofs them!  By experience this stuff does not waterproof eye shadow but it does make them smudge proof and longer wearing. I am granting this product 3 flowers for its witty design, I might consider adding this to my makeup kit.

The liquid transformer sells for $11.00 CAD.

Rating:

Recently I bought an L’Oreal Quad eye shadow palette in Landscape.  It consists of 4 beautiful colors: Olive Green, Shimmer Brown, Peachy Orange and Autumn Leaves Red.  The quad palette are all put together very nicely with beautiful colors that co-ordinates with each other.  The pigmentation is so so and wear ability is decent (roughly 5 hours).   If you are under a tight budget but you would like to get decent quality eye shadows, my favorite picks are Annabelle, L’Oreal, Marcelle and Revlon.

I don’t think I need to say much about M.A.C.’s eye shadows.  They have excellent pigmentation, long wear ability and a wide range of color selections.  For $15.00 CAD I think my money is well spent on this eye shadow.

Wet or Dry Eye Shadow

Rating:

I’ve always have faith in Marcelle’s products because they never fail me.  Marcelle has a good range of colors in eye shadows.  They can be used wet or dry depending on the effect you are looking for.  The smooth & silky powder is compressed into a single case with a sponge tip applicator.  The pigmentation in these eye shadows is good and its long wear-ability is also good (about 5 – 7 hours).   It glides on smoothly and effortlessly with a natural hair makeup brush or with a sponge tip applicator.  It is a decent eye shadow to add to your makeup collection. I am granting these eye shadow 4 flashy flowers.
